Vanderbilt’s bowlers will be tested by one of the most demanding schedules in program history during the 2013-14 season according to the schedule released this week.
“This is a challenging schedule,” Coach John Williamson says. “There are no soft tournaments, no easy touches where we might pad our statistics. This year will be a test but we recruit talented bowlers who want to compete against the best and they will get that chance.”
The Commodores, who reached the NCAA championship game last April, will open Nov. 1 at the Fairleigh Dickinson New Jersey Jamboree, an early test against predominantly Northeastern powers.
There are two more strong November tournaments at Valparaiso and Maryland-Eastern Shore. The schedule then breaks for winter holidays, then resumes at Arkansas State Jan. 17 and proceeds to Kutztown’s excellent event Jan. 24-26.
Vanderbilt has two Texas-based tournaments in February – one being Prairie View’s invitational at the International Training and Research Center in Dallas and the other at Sam Houston’s Track Kat Klash.
The regular season concludes with the Greater Ozark, hosted by Central Missouri Feb. 28-Mar. 2 and Vanderbilt’s own Columbia 300 Music City Classic March 7-9. The NCAA Championship will be April 10-12 in Cleveland, Ohio.
