NASHVILLE – The Commodores’ Wednesday evening practice will be open to the public, Head Coach James Franklin announced Monday.

The practice at the John Rich Practice Facility begins at 5:30 p.m., and will be the only chance for Vanderbilt fans to see the team’s progress until Thursday, August 29 when the Commodores face Ole Miss in the season opener.

The announcement of an open practice this week comes just one day after more than 5,000 fans converged on campus to enjoy Dore Jam, the team’s annual Fan Day activity. Players and coaches autographed new 2013 posters for the record crowd.

“I think it’s important that our fans come out and see how their team is practicing, and see how much effort the players are putting in to prepare for the season,” Franklin said. “I look forward to welcoming a big crowd of Commodore fans this Wednesday.”

Gates at the team’s practice facility will open at 5:15 p.m. Parking for the practice will be free of charge in the Vanderbilt University Medical Center surface lots across Natchez Trace from the practice field and Vanderbilt Track and Field Complex.

More of the new schedule posters that feature senior offensive and defensive players will be available to fans at the entrance gate off Natchez Trace.

Season tickets starting at $145 remain for the Commodores’ seven-game home schedule. Besides the Ole Miss opener, Vanderbilt hosts Austin Peay on Sept. 7, UAB on Sept. 28, Missouri on Oct. 5, Georgia on Oct. 19 Kentucky on Nov. 16 and Wake Forest on Nov. 30.
