NASHVILLE – The 2013 Vanderbilt women’s soccer team will get its first taste of live game action on Sunday when Louisville visits the VU Soccer Complex at 5 p.m. CT. Admission is free to the exhibition game, which begins as football’s annual “Dore Jam” fan day is wrapping up.
Derek Greene enters his third season as the Commodores’ head coach returning a good deal of experience from last year’s young squad. The squad also welcomes one of the top 30 recruiting classes in the nation, according to Top Drawer Soccer.
The Commodores arrived back in Nashville on Tuesday and began practices the following day. Wednesday’s photo session (team image below) preceded the team’s first evening scrimmage. Thursday, Friday and Saturday included multiple fitness and training sessions on campus.
Vanderbilt will open the 2013 regular season on Friday, Aug. 23, when UAB travels to Nashville for a 7 p.m. kickoff. That opening weekend also includes a Sunday home tilt against Oklahoma State (1 p.m.).
