NASHVILLE, Tenn. – Yes, we’ve landed on the moon, Lloyd! Welcome to the new VUcommodores.com. Vanderbilt’s athletics department, in conjunction with CBS Interactive and IMG Sports Marketing, unveiled the latest version of the official athletics website Wednesday.
The site displays Vanderbilt’s news, rosters and statistics in a clean template that is easy to read and navigate. Fans can also toggle between sections of the page by utilizing the buttons next to the scroll bar on the right of the page. The buttons provide quick jumps to different sections of the homepage.
Items that were also once only available in Flash have been converted or are close to being converted to a more user-friendly system to better accommodate mobile users.
Objects that were presented using Flash media have all been converted or are in the process of being converted to a more compliant system so that the full site will work better on mobile devices and to those fans that have opted not to install Flash
Additionally, the new VUcommodores.com puts an emphasis on Vanderbilt’s great photography with larger images being displayed throughout the site. In addition to a large photo at the top of the homepage and each sport homepage, fans can also scroll down to view a section titled “The Big Picture,” which highlights some of the most memorable Commodore moments.
Are you sold on it yet? Maybe George Costanza can sell you on it?
Don’t worry there’s more to present.
Social media also plays a large role in the new VUcommodores.com. Fans may access any of our social media platforms via the navigation at the top of each page and can view the latest tweets and Facebook posts on our social media section of the page. Fans will also be interested to learn that VUcommodores is now on Pinterest and Google+.
Also at the top of the page, fans will see a new “Trending” section where VUcommodores.com will display links to popular news items, tweets and more.
Between the main headlines is our promotional slider, which will keep fans connected with ongoing and upcoming promotions and events.
Scrolling down, users will find a large video player to better emphasize more of the great video content the department produces. The “Video” section also includes a link to the VUcommodores YouTube channel as well as Commodore Nation All-Access, where fans can locate live audio and video for a number of Vanderbilt’s live events.
Below the “Video” section is the event calendar. Here, fans can view Vanderbilt’s upcoming sporting events and locate the necessary live event links that will connect them to the event preview, live stats, live audio, video and more. Fans will also have the option to download sports schedules to Outlook and view each sport schedule individually.
Moving down the page, VUcommodores.com has created a “Featured” section to give longer life to some heavily-viewed content. The “Happening Now” section includes content emphasizing ongoing and future events.
We hope you enjoy the new website as much as we do. Please don’t get carried away with your Shooter McGavin celebration or your Carlton dance.
