– Tossed his second consecutive complete game allowing one run on two hits against #15 Oregon on Friday night.
– The lefty dominated allowing only one base runner and no hits after the fourth inning, retiring 18 of the final 19 batters he faced.
– Ziomek fanned at least one batter in all nine innings and struck out eight Ducks at least once.
– Over his last two starts the junior has two complete game wins striking out 28 and allowing one run on three hits with four walks.
Commodore Notes
Vanderbilt won three games to push the winning streak to 13 games before dropping the series finale at #15 Oregon on Sunday… The #2 Commodores topped Eastern Illinois 8-3 on Tuesday in the Dores’ fifth straight game to start with the temperature in the 30s… Freshman Walker Buehler earned his first collegiate win working six scoreless innings… Vince Conde collected a career-best three hits as Vandy cranked out 15 hits in the victory… Kevin Ziomek dominated again on Friday night, tossing his second straight complete game in a win at #15 Oregon… Ziomek punched out 13 batters and allowed only one run on two hits for his fourth win of the season… Over his last two starts Ziomek has 28 strikeouts in 18 innings while allowing one run on three hits and four walks… Tony Kemp and Jack Lupo each knocked in two runs… The Commodores clinched the series at #15 Oregon on Saturday with a 4-2 victory… Tony Kemp led the way with three hits as Tyler Beede notched his fourth win with 6.2 innings on the bump… Brian Miller tossed 2.1 innings to earn his third save… #15 Oregon rallied by Vanderbilt on Sunday to salvage the series finale 7-5… The Dores’ bullpen was tagged for three unearned runs as the Ducks scored five runs on one hit in the eighth inning… Mike Yastrzemski drove in two runs, including a solo home run, and Tony Kemp picked up two more hits to push his series total to seven… Jared Miller took the loss with his walk scoring the winning run… This week Vanderbilt hosts Buffalo on Wednesday before traveling to Auburn to take on the Tigers in the first weekend of Southeastern Conference play.
