‘Dores Three-Point Streak Still Intact
Vanderbilt has made a 3-pointer in 858 consecutive games, a streak which began at the inception of the 3-point line in 1986-87. The Commodores rank second only to UNLV for the longest streak in Division I basketball. Vanderbilt, UNLV and Princeton are the only three schools in college basketball to have made at least one 3-pointer in every game played since the 3-point line was implemented.
Close Losses in League Play
Of the nine league losses this season, one has gone to overtime (Ole Miss), two were by four points (Alabama, led by 11 with seven minutes to go, at Kentucky), one was by two points (Kentucky at home), and a pair of games by one point (at Tennessee, at LSU).
Odom Beginning to Come On
In his last six games, junior forward Rod Odom is averaging 14.8 points and 4.3 rebounds per game, while making 15-of-33 threes over that time span (45.5%). He has scored in double figures in five of his last six games, including a career-high 20-point performance at LSU.
Henderson, Parker Emerging
Sophomore big man Josh Henderson has scored in double figures in three of his last five games and is 21-33 (63.6%) from the floor in those games. He is averaging 9.4 points per game over that time span. Additionally, sophomore guard Dai-Jon Parker has become the Commodores’ jack-of-all trades recently. He scored a career and game-high 17 points in win over Texas A&M, and against Miss. State, he tallied a career and season-high 13 rebounds.
Defensive Excellence
The Commodores are only surrendering 59.7 points per game, which marks Vanderbilt’s best scoring defensive effort since 1950-51 (60.5 ppg).
