Many teams in action this weekend

It’s another busy weekend for Vanderbilt’s athletic teams. Nine Vanderbilt teams will be competing this weekend, including five at home.

Vanderbilt’s baseball team will host Monmouth in a three-game series, beginning at 4 p.m. Friday. The Commodores will also play Monmouth at 2 p.m. Saturday and noon Sunday. Vanderbilt’s women’s tennis team will also play Belmont at 3:15 p.m. Friday at the Currey Tennis Center. The match was added this week and will only feature singles play.

Also at home this weekend will be the women’s basketball, men’s tennis and lacrosse teams. Vanderbilt’s women’s basketball team hosts Texas A&M at 4 p.m. Sunday (ESPN2) at Memorial Gymnasium. The men’s netters will play a doubleheader Sunday, hosting Indiana at noon and Belmont at 4:30 p.m. at the Currey Tennis Center. The Commodores’ lacrosse squad hosts Northwestern at 1 p.m. on Sunday as well.

Away from campus, two Vanderbilt teams are competing at SEC Championships. The swimming team is competing through Saturday at the SEC Championships in College Station, Texas, and has already shattered numerous school records.

The track and field team is competing at the SEC Indoor Championships Friday-Sunday in Fayetteville, Ark. Vanderbilt’s bowling team will be competing at the Holiday Collegiate Classic this weekend in Bessemer, Ala. Lastly, the men’s basketball team will play its second straight road game Saturday when it travels to Mississippi State for a 12:30 p.m. tip (SEC Network).
