1993 Final Four team will be recognized Sunday

The spring sports season is underway, which means it is another busy weekend on Vanderbilt’s campus. Vanderbilt’s men’s and women’s basketball teams will play home games this weekend, the swimming team will host its final home meet of the season and the men’s tennis team continues non-conference play against Tulane.

The swimming team will start the weekend by hosting Arkansas-Little Rock in its final home meet of the season. The Commodores are 2-5 this season, while Arkansas-Little Rock is 3-2. The meet begins at 1 p.m. and admission is free at the Centennial Sportsplex.

Vanderbilt’s men’s basketball team hosts Alabama at 3 p.m. CT at Memorial Gymnasium on Saturday (SEC Network). There are a number of promotions taking place around Saturday’s game. The 2012 football team will be recognized at halftime and will sign autographs in the practice gym before the game. Fans must have a ticket to the men’s basketball game to participate in the autograph session. Read More

Fans attending the men’s basketball game are also encouraged to donate gently worn shoes to Soles4Souls. The Vanderbilt Athletics Student-Advisory Committee will be collecting the shoes at the men’s basketball game. Read More

The men’s tennis team will have a short turnaround from its match on Friday when it hosts Tulane at noon on Sunday. Admission is free to the match at the Currey Tennis Center.

To cap the weekend’s home events, Vanderbilt’s women’s basketball team will host Ole Miss in a very special Sunday at Memorial Gymnasium. The game against Ole Miss will take place at 2 p.m., and at halftime, Vanderbilt will recognize the 1993 Final Four team. Representatives from that team will be in attendance at the game – 20 years after reaching the only Final Four in school history. Read More

Additionally, there are numerous Vanderbilt teams competing on the road this weekend. The bowling team is at the Prairie View A&M Invitational in DFW, the track team is competing in New York, the women’s tennis team is playing at Georgia Tech Saturday and the women’s lacrosse team opens the season at Jacksonville on Sunday.
