MOBILE, Ala. – Vanderbilt junior Charlie Ewing is currently at one-under par and is in a tie for second place on the individual leader board after 30 holes of play at the Mobile Bay Intercollegiate at the Magnolia Grove Crossings Golf Course. As a team, the Commodores are in a tie for ninth at 23-over par.

The tournament, which was slated for 36 holes on Monday, was delayed to start the day because of excessive dew on the course. Teams have five to seven holes left of their second round, which will be completed on Tuesday morning, along with the final 18 holes of the third round.

Ewing paced the Commodore effort after firing a one-over par, 73, in his first round and is two-under par through 12 holes of his second round. Other Vanderbilt scores in the first round included Hunter Stewart’s 76, Ben Fogler and Jordan Janico’s 78, and Zack Jaworski’s 81.

“First of all, I saw some really positive things today that we can carry into tomorrow’s completion of round two and three,” said Vanderbilt head coach Scott Limbaugh. “We had some guys that fought hard in the conditions and I am proud of that. As a team, we got off to a rough start and we just have to learn to be more disciplined. This is a resilient group of men and I know they will be excited to play tomorrow.”

Auburn leads the team competition by eight strokes and is at even par. Memphis is second at eight-over par.

Individually, Niclas Carlsson is one stroke better than Ewing at two-under par and leads all individuals. Brian Campbell of Illinois, Steve Lee of Memphis, Thomas Birdsey of Wake Forest, and Chase Parker of Kentucky are all tied with Ewing at one-under par.

Senior Will Snipes is competing at the USA Individual Tournament and is in a tie for 10th after firing a 76 at the Magnolia Grove Falls Golf Course (par 71, 7,158 yards).

The final holes of the second round and the final 18 holes will be played on Tuesday morning.
