Pregame Notes
– Vanderbilt is in its 123rd year of organized football.
– The Commodores wore black helmets and pants with gold jerseys; marking the first time this season for the Dores to wear that combination.
– Vanderbilt won the toss and elected to defer to the second half with Florida receiving the ball in the first half.
– Attendance was 40,350.
– During pregame ceremonies, the Black Daggers demonstration team from Fort Bragg, N.C. parachuted the official game ball onto the Dudley Field surface at Vanderbilt Stadium.
– Nine Wounded Warriors participated in the Anchor presentation.
– The American flag used for the national anthem came from the Nashville National Cemetery in Madison and was marched to the campus by the World Warrior Project.
– At halftime, 35 members of the Airborne Division Air Assault marching band performed with Vanderbilt’s Spirit of Gold marching band.
Team Notes
– The Commodores took the lead in the first quarter on a TD pass from Jordan Rodgers to Jordan Matthews marking the third time this season the Dores scored first (Northwestern, Presbyterian).
– Vanderbilt’s 7-0 lead at the end of the first quarter marked the first time Vandy led Florida after one quarter since 2004 when the Commodores led 10-7.
– Vanderbilt trailed at the half 11-7, the third time this season the Dores trailed at the half (South Carolina, Georgia).
– The game against Florida marked the third game in the Commodores first six of the season against an opponent (Florida, South Carolina).
Individual Notes
– Defensive tackle Jared Morse made his second straight start after making his first career start last week at Missouri.
– With his 37-yard grab in the first quarter, Chris Boyd now has at least one catch in 14 straight games.
– Jordan Matthews’ 10-yard TD catch in the first quarter gave Matthews at least one catch in 14 straight games and three touchdowns on the season.
– Archibald Barnes matched a season-best with eight tackles in the first half and set a career-high with 12 tackles.
– Karl Butler made his team-leading seventh tackle for loss with a stop in the first half.
– Jordan Matthews now has at least four catches in every game this season and passed the 500-yard mark for the season with a grab in the third quarter.
– With a 20-yard run in the fourth quarter Wesley Tate established a new career-high with 66 yards on 10 carries.
– Zac Stacy’s one-yard TD run in the fourth quarter gave him 24 touchdowns in his career tying him with Marcus Wilson (1989-92).
– Jordan Matthews’ 53-yard catch in the fourth quarter put him over 100 yards receiving for the third time this season and fifth time in 12 games.
– Zac Stacy moved into sole possession of second place on the all-time rushing list with 86 yards on the night giving him 2,576 yards in his career.
– Steven Scheu caught a career-high three passes for 21 yards.
– Jonathan Krause’s 23-yard catch was a season-long.
– Jordan Rodgers passed for a season-high 237 yards matching a season-best with 17 completions.
Offensive Notes
– Vanderbilt’s 363 yards of total offense was the most against a SEC team this season and the second-most this season (Presbyterian, 605).
– Vanderbilt converted a season-best seven third down conversions.
– The Commodores’ fourth quarter touchdown was the first fourth-quarter TD the Gators had allowed this season.
Defensive Notes
– The Commodores started the same 11 on defense as the Missouri game.
– Vanderbilt held Florida to 77 yards passing, the second time this season the Dores have held a SEC opponent to less than 100 yards (67, South Carolina).
– The Dores held SEC-leading rusher Mike Gillislee to 67 yards on 17 carries.
Special Team Notes
– Richard Kent’s 53-yard punt at the end of the first quarter gave him three straight games with at least one 50-yard punt and five on the season.
– Cary Spear’s 22-yard field goal in the fourth quarter gave him a six-game streak with at least one field goal.
– Richard Kent matched a season-best with three punts inside the 20-yard line.
