Aug. 23, 2012

STILLWATER, Okla. – The Vanderbilt women’s soccer team is back on the road for the second weekend of the 2012 season, traveling to face a pair of Big 12 opponents in Oklahoma State and Oklahoma.

The Commodores opened the year last week with a 2-0 victory over Tennessee-Martin in the first-ever night game played at Skyhawk Field. Sophomore Ashley Oswald and freshman Lina Granados scored Vanderbilt’s goals, with sophomore goalkeeper Alexa Levick posting her third career shutout behind three outstanding saves.

will be offered by OKstate.com for Friday night’s game against the Cowgirls (7 p.m. CT). SoonerSports.com will have for Sunday’s tilt with Oklahoma (1 p.m.).

Oklahoma State (2-0) enters the weekend ranked fourth in the nation. The Cowgirls defeated both UMKC and Weber State last weekend by the same 1-0 marks. Oklahoma State led the nation in shutouts a year ago, thanks in part to All-American goalkeeper AD Franch.

Oklahoma (1-1) has also played its first two games at home. The Sooners defeated former conference rival Nebraska, 2-1, last Friday before falling to LSU on Monday, 1-0, in double overtime. Oklahoma plays host to Nicholls State on Friday before welcoming the Commodores to Norman.

Vanderbilt is playing its first four games on the road before playing host to a pair of contests in the first week of September. The Commodores will then return to the road for a five-game swing that includes the squad’s first four Southeastern Conference tilts.
