Vanderbilt’s Lauren Stratton and Kendall Martindale shot an even-par 72 and are in a tie for second place at the third Annual Pure Silk Women’s Collegiate Team Championship at Wedgewood Golf & Country Club in Powell, Ohio. Tuesday’s format was an alternate shot format.
Stratton and Martindale are tied for second with South Carolina’s Meredith Swanson and Samantha Swinehart, and trail Notre Dame’s duo of Ashley Armstrong and Kristina Nhim by three strokes.
Fifty-four teams return to action on Wednesday morning for the second day of the Championship with tee times set to begin at 8:00 a.m. playing in a best ball format.
The format of the Championship is Day 1 (July 31): Alternate Shot; Day 2 (Aug. 1): Best Ball; and Day 3 (Aug. 2): Aggregate Score of the two players. Teams are comprised of players from all levels of collegiate golf including Division I, II and III programs.
