In front of a raucous crowd at Barnes & Noble at Vanderbilt, the Vanderbilt football team debuted its new Nike uniforms last Wednesday evening.
Early reviews have been glowing, with the uniforms considered a definite upgrade for the rising Commodore program.
At the event, head coach James Franklin introduced his 16 seniors, two at a time, to the audience, and the players struck a pose in nine different uniform combinations of black, gold and white.
The loudest reaction of the night came when quarterback Jordan Rodgers and safety Eric Samuels surprised the crowd with the team’s new white helmets, a look Commodore fans haven’t seen on the field since the 1989 season. The gold jerseys, which have black shoulder coverings, were also a big hit.
Fans will get to see the new threads first-hand when Vanderbilt hosts nationally ranked South Carolina on August 30 to kickoff the college football season.
