VANDERBILT RE-VU
Vanderbilt clinched the series with a come-from-behind 12-6 win at Tennessee on Sunday. Conrad Gregor and Connor Harrell each hit home runs and collected three hits apiece while Tony Kemp added two triples. Sam Selman earned his team-best seventh win working 4.2 innings out of the bullpen. The Commodores held off a ninth inning rally to even the series Saturday with a 7-4 win. Conrad Gregor and Connor Harrell each had three hits in the win. Tennessee rallied by Vanderbilt to win the series opener 8-2 Friday night. Mike Yastrzemski led VU with two hits in the loss.

HARRELL HEATING UP
Connor Harrell has began to heat up over his last six games going 15-for-38 (.395) with four doubles, four home runs and 14 RBI. Harrell’s hot streak follows a slump that saw him go 3-for-31 (.097). The Dores outfielder finished last season on a powerful pace starting against Tennessee on April 29 with a pinch-hit home run and hitting a team-best .365 with eight doubles, eight home runs and 24 RBI over the team’s final 26 games.
LONG RELIEF
The Commodores’ bullpen flexed its muscle over the weekend at Tennessee pitching 16.1 innings, striking out 11 and earning both Vandy wins over the Volunteers. Over the last six games the VU pen has four wins and has turned in 29 innings with 23 strikeouts with opponents hitting .241.
KEMP MATCHES TRIPLES MARK
Tony Kemp’s two triples on Sunday helped lead Vanderbilt to victory at Tennessee. The pair of three-base hits also gave Kemp a SEC leading eight for the season and matched the Vanderbilt single-season record set by Ryan Klosterman in 2004. The sophomore from Franklin, Tenn. narrowly missed the record a year ago with seven.
PLAYING THE CARDINALS
The Commodores and Cardinals renew their annual rivalry tonight at Hawkins Field. The last time Louisville visited Nashville was in 2010 when the two teams played an epic 17-inning affair that ended on a walk-off home run by Jason Esposito. Last season the Dores handled the Cardinals 5-1 in Louisville in a game that saw Curt Casali and Connor Harrell each hit home runs and Kevin Ziomek earn his second career win. This season marks the first time the two teams will play in the Battle of the Barrel, with the winning team walking away with a barrel trophy. Vanderbilt holds the all-time edge going 18-4 against Louisville in a series dating back to 1971.
