NASHVILLE – The 15th-ranked Vanderbilt women’s lacrosse team plays host to No. 11 Ohio State for an American Lacrosse Conference showdown on Sunday, April 8, at 1 p.m. CT. Admission is free to all regular season home games at the Vanderbilt Lacrosse Complex.
The Commodores (7-4, 1-2 ALC) will be looking to square their conference record while avenging a pair of 2011 losses to the Buckeyes (8-3, 0-2 ALC). Ohio State ended Vanderbilt’s season last year by knocking off the Commodores in the first round of the 2011 ALC Tournament in Nashville.
Ohio State is searching for its first league win of the year after losses to No. 5 Florida and No. 1 Northwestern by a combined three goals. The Buckeyes took NU to overtime last weekend before falling, 13-12. Gabby Capuzzi leads OSU in scoring this season with 30 goals in 11 games.
Vanderbilt is closing out a three-game home stand on Sunday and looking to win its third straight overall. The Commodores notched their first ALC victory of the year last weekend against Johns Hopkins before defeating Presbyterian in the mid-week. Senior All-American Ally Carey paces the Commodores with 21 goals this season.
Following Sunday’s game, the Commodores will take to the road. VU will close out the ALC portion of the schedule at Florida before heading to Notre Dame. The Dores will end the 2012 regular season on Sunday, April 22, when Jacksonville visits Nashville for a 1 p.m. contest. The 2012 ALC Tournament is scheduled for the first week of May in Gainesville, Fla.
