VANDERBILT RE-VU
Vanderbilt rallied for the second straight day to beat No. 17 Georgia and clinch the Commodores’ first SEC series of the season. Vince Conde’s two-run triple proved to be the game-winner in a four-run eighth inning. The Commodores rallied for three runs in the ninth to top Georgia 5-4 on Saturday. Conrad Gregor’s RBI-single in the ninth with the bases loaded and two outs proved to be the game winner. A solo home run was enough to lift No. 17 Georgia over Vanderbilt Friday night. Kevin Ziomek was the tough-luck loser allowing only one run on one hit over 5.1 innings. The Commodores matched a season-high with five errors in a 5-3 loss to Evansville on Tuesday.

NOT A LOT OF EXTRA
The Vanderbilt offense has produced just 10 extra-base hits over the last seven games and had three in the Commodores’ series win over Georgia last weekend. The team enters Tuesday’s game with 54 extra-base hits for the season (37 doubles, 8 triples, 9 home runs). Mike Yastrzemski does not have an extra-base hit since the Dores’ win over Rhode Island in the second game of a doubleheader when he hit his team-best third home run (76 at-bats).
GO-GO WALKING
Commodores shortstop Anthony Gomez is not a fan of walking but has walked once in each of the last three games to bring his total to nine for the season. Gomez’s three-game walking streak is something he did not do last season, walking in back-to-back games only once. His nine walks in the Dores’ first 24 games this season is something that took him 63 games to accomplish a year ago.
IMPROVING D
Vanderbilt did not commit an error in consecutive games over the weekend for the first time this season. The Dores have made five errors in six SEC games.
AGAINST THE GOLDEN EAGLES
Vanderbilt hosts Tennessee Tech in the teams’ 61st meeting tonight. The Commodores hold a 40-20 edge over the Golden Eagles in a series that dates back to 1928 when Tennessee Tech won 3-2. Last year the Dores topped the Eagles 11-2 behind Connor Harrell’s two hits and three RBI, including his first home run of the season. Mike Yastrzemski added two hits and two RBI while T.J. Pecoraro picked up the win in relief with two scoreless innings.
