Following a week off, the Vanderbilt Commodores will split this weekend’s matches with a home pairing on Friday against the Alabama Crimson Tide, before traveling to face the Auburn Tigers on Sunday.
The No. 41 Vanderbilt Commodores dropped slightly in the rankings after a loss to Florida, but their 4-3 win against the South Carolina Gamecocks bolstered the team as they headed into the break.
Senior Charlie Jones continued his rise in the rankings, moving up from the No. 62 player in the nation to the No. 47 singles player thanks to wins over Florida’s No. 51 Bob van Overbeek and South Carolina’s No. 92 Nick Jones.
The Dores will face No. 61 Alabama on Friday at 2:00 CT at the Currey Tennis Center. The Tide bring in a pair of ranked doubles partners, in No. 60 Carlos Taborga and Daniil Proskura.
Vanderbilt then travels to No. 19 Auburn afterwards to face two ranked individuals in No. 26 Andreas Mies and No. 100 Lukas Ollert. Mies teams up with Alexander Stamchev to make the No. 13 doubles pair in the nation.
The Commodores are 1-3 in the conference to start the season, and 6-8 overall. Alabama is also 6-8, 1-3 in the conference heading into Friday’s match.
