NASHVILLE – The eighth-ranked Vanderbilt women’s lacrosse team plays host to Louisville on Wednesday, March 14, at 3 p.m. CT at the VU Lacrosse Complex.
Admission to the game is free.
Vanderbilt (4-1) is coming off a 10-8 road victory at Canisius on Sunday to close out the Commodores’ spring break. Senior All-American Ally Carey led the Commodores with four goals, including three tallies in a 4-0 run to close the game. For her performance, Carey was named the American Lacrosse Conference’s Offensive Player of the Week yesterday.
Louisville (2-3) is looking to even its record after a 20-3 win over Presbyterian on Saturday provided the Cardinals with their second win of the young season. Louisville will be looking for its first win over an American Lacrosse Conference opponent this season after losses to Ohio State and Northwestern.
Vanderbilt and Louisville have split a home-and-home series that past two seasons. The Commodores won the first meeting between the schools in 2010, 20-3. Louisville avenged that road loss with a 12-6 home win a year ago.
A win on Wednesday would give the Commodores a 5-1 record, which would match the team’s best start (2004 and 2008). Following the Louisville contest, Vanderbilt opens conference play this weekend when No.11 Penn State visits the VU Lacrosse Complex for a 1 p.m. CT start.
