Commodore Notes
The Commodores lost at Belmont Tuesday 6-5… Vanderbilt rallied for two runs in the ninth inning but fell to the cross-town rival Bruins for the first time since 2009… Tony Kemp knocked in two runs and Anthony Gomez collected two hits in the loss… Tyler Beede was pinned with the loss after allowing four runs, all on a grand slam, over 4.2 innings with a career-best six strikeouts… The Dores bounced back Friday night with a shutout victory over San Diego 7-0… VU starter Kevin Ziomek dominated over a career-best eight innings striking out eight and allowing only three hits for his second win of the year… Mike Yastrzemski led the way with three hits and two RBI… The Commodores dropped a close game 2-1 on Saturday afternoon… Vandy rallied to load the bases in the ninth inning but came up short in the loss… Three Vanderbilt relievers combined for 4.1 scoreless innings of relief led by Steven Rice’s 2.1 innings… Tony Kemp pushed his hitting streak to 11 games with a pair of hits and fellow sophomore Conrad Gregor knocked in the Dores’ lone run… A six-run third inning by the Toreros sank the Commodores in Sunday’s 9-7 loss… VU rallied to close the San Diego lead to a single run when Vince Conde blasted his first collegiate home run in the sixth but the Dores failed to get a hit over the final three frames… Vanderbilt starter Sam Selman was pegged with the loss allowing seven runs on five hits and four walks over 2.1 innings… Kemp’s 11-game hitting streak was snapped with his 0-for-3 outing despite him scoring a run and drawing two walks… Gregor went 2-for-4 with two RBI in the loss.
