VANDERBILT RE-VU
Stanford completed a three-game sweep over Vanderbilt Sunday in Palo Alto, Calif. with an 18-5 win. The Commodores committed five errors in the game to increase the team’s three-game total to 11. Anthony Gomez led the way for VU with three hits in the loss. Gomez and Connor Harrell had at least one hit in each game of the three-game series. The Commodores lost 9-5 Saturday despite Connor Harrell’s two home runs and four RBI. Vanderbilt dropped the season opener at Stanford 8-3. Freshman Chris Harvey led the Dores with two hits and fellow freshman Vince Conde drove in two runs in the loss.

NEWCOMERS SEE ACTION
Vanderbilt played 10 newcomers and a redshirt for the first time on the trip to Stanford. Freshmen Connor Castellano, Will Cooper, Vince Conde, John Norwood, Tyler Beede, Philip Pfeifer, Jared Miller, Brian Miller, Chris Harvey and Drew VerHagen joined redshirt sophomore D.J. Luna on the field against the Cardinal.
STREAK… CONTINUED
Connor Harrell entered the season on a streak of 11 straight games having reached base and has now stretched the streak to 14 games. Harrell is also riding a 10-game hitting streak dating back to June 5 of last season. He was one of two (Anthony Gomez) Commodores to have hits in all three games at Stanford last weekend.
HOME SWEET HAWKINS
Vanderbilt opens up Hawkins Field for its 11th season since being dedicated in 2002. The Commodores boast a 246-93 record at Hawkins Field and have won 231 games at home under Coach Corbin, including 33 a year ago. Under Corbin the team is 9-0 in home openers dating back to 2003.
FIRST TIME FACING THE GOLDEN GRIZZLIES
The Oakland Grizzlies make the team’s first trip to Hawkins Field to play the Commodores for the first time. The Grizzlies have been a Division I program since 1970 and went 19-39 last season under head coach John Musachio. Oakland is located in Rochester, Mich. and is a member of The Summit League. Wednesday’s contest is the season opener for the Grizzlies.
BOTTOM HEAVY WEEKEND
The bottom half of the Vanderbilt lineup produced at Stanford last weekend while the top half of the lineup struggled. The hitters in the first four spots in the lineup combined to go 8-for-48 (.167) while the hitters in the final five spots went a combined 13-for-45 (.289). As a team the Dores hit .214 over the weekend.
