What do you do on your weekend off?
The Vanderbilt women’s tennis team spent theirs volunteering at Second Harvest, sorting through and boxing nearly 1300 pounds of grain and produce that will be sent out to 47 counties in Middle Tennessee to feed those who need a little help.
Giving back to the community has always been an important part of the Commodores’ program.
“We took advantage of the little time off that we have from competition to do some community service because we realize how important it is to give back the community that has given us so much,” said senior Jackie Wu.
“As a team, we have volunteered at the Food Bank before–once for flood relief and another time for simple food sorting–and had a great time,” Wu continued. “Not only do we have the privilege to help out those in need, it also provides us the opportunity to become closer as a team. Despite the busy schedule we will be facing with conference play starting so soon, I hope that we will be able to find some more time to volunteer.”

They head back to the courts to host a double header on Sunday, February 26th, against Memphis at 11:00 a.m., and MTSU at 4 p.m CT.
