The No. 18 Commodores face a stiff challenge on Friday as they host the No. 10 Michigan Wolverines.
The Wolverines bring with them four ranked individuals and a highly ranked doubles pair, including No. 36 Emina Bektas and No. 46 Brooke Bolender, who together make up the No. 24 doubles pair.
Vanderbilt has three ranked stars, including No. 23 Jackie Wu, No. 69 Lauren Mira, and No. 110 Marie Casares. Mira and Wu are the No. 14 doubles pair in the national, but the two have only paired up for two matches–and two wins–this spring.
The Dores dropped in the rankings from No. 17 to No. 18 after the 4-1 loss to then-No. 15 Texas.
Senior Jackie Wu continues to be an anchor for the Commodores in the No. 1 position. Sophomore Alex Leatu and Lauren Mira each played well over the weekend, with Mira clinching the win over Arizona with a nearly four hour match against Kim Stubbe that ended in a 6-7(6-4), 6-3, 2-1 ret. score.
Vanderbilt is fresh off of hosting one of the more competitive sites for the ITA Kick-Off weekend, where the Commodores beat Arizona, but fell to Texas in the championship round.
The match begins this Friday at 3:30 p.m. CT at Currey Tennis Center. The Dores will face No. 24 Notre Dame on Sunday at noon.
