The Vanderbilt women’s basketball team (16-5, 4-4 SEC) returns to the road for the first time since January 19 when it travels to Auburn (11-1, 3-6 SEC) on Thursday, February 2. Tipoff is set for 6:00 p.m. CT and the game can be heard in Nashville on WNSR 560 AM, as well as through Vanderbilt All-Access on VUCommodores.com.
Scouting The Commodores
Vanderbilt goes in search of its first SEC road win of the season with the reigning SEC Player and Freshman of the Week. Christina Foggie was named the SEC Player of the Week after scoring a career-high 34 points against No. 17/15 Georgia last week. She followed that up with 14 in the win over LSU and currently leads the SEC in scoring at 18.2 points per game. She is also third in the nation in three-point field goal percentage at 46.6%. Fellow guard Kady Schrann was named SEC Freshman of the Week after matching her career high with six assists against Georgia, then pouring in a career-best 29 points against LSU. Schrann is averaging 8.1 points per contest and is shooting 48% from the field, which is second among freshmen in the SEC. The posts have also been getting done. Forward Tiffany Clarke and center Stephanie Holzer each had a double-double against Georgia and LSU, respectively. Clarke is posting 10.6 points and 7.1 rebounds per game, while Holzer is averaging 10.5 points and 7.2 rebounds per outing.
Scouting The Tigers
Auburn will look to win their second-straight game, as the Tigers are coming off a 67-54 win at Ole Miss. Tyrese Tanner leads the Tigers in scoring at 10.9 points per game. Right behind her is the trio of Blanche Alverson (9.3 ppg), Camille Glymph (9.3 ppg) and Hasina Muhammad (9.1 ppg). Glymph led the way in the win over the Rebels, scoring 19 points and dishing out five assists. Parrisha Simmons is the team’s top rebounder at 5.5 per game following 10 rebounds against Ole Miss. The offense runs through 5-1 point guard Najat Ourdad, who is averaging 3.1 assists per contest.
Vanderbilt vs. Auburn – The Series
Thursday is the 42nd meeting between Vanderbilt and Auburn, as well as the second of the season. Vanderbilt holds a 25-16 edge in the series. The first meeting was the final game of Vanderbilt’s inaugural season, with the Tigers taking an 88-69 win in Starkeville, Miss. The teams have met every year since 1983. Vanderbilt has won the last 18 games in the series, including all 15 meetings since Melanie Balcomb took the helm on West End. The first meeting this season saw Vanderbilt take a 66-58 win behind 27 points from sophomore guard Christina Foggie. She was an impressive 7-11 from the field. Jasmine Lister added 11 points and five assists, while Tiffany Clarke contributed 12 points and eight rebounds. Auburn was led by 14 points from Tyrese Tanner. Chantel Hilliard added 11 points, while Camille Glymph scored nine. Najat Ourdad had six assists and a career high seven steals. The series is tied 8-8 in Auburn, Ala., but the Commodores have won seven straight after losing eight of the first nine.

The Commodores will travel to Starkeville, Miss., to take on Mississippi State on Sunday, February 5. Tipoff is set for 2:00 p.m. CT.
