In fact, Lance Goulbourne’s putback might be regarded as VU’s slam of the season.
Early in the second half of Vanderbilt’s 84-77 victory over Middle Tennessee Saturday, Goulbourne soared for a rebound on Jeffery Taylor’s missed three-pointer, gripped the ball with one hand in mid-air, and threw down a thunderous jam to bring the sold-out Memorial Gym crowd to its feet.
“Oh myyyyyyy. Lance Goulbourne… out of nowhere,” shouted Voice of the Commodores Joe Fisher on the radio call.
The degree of difficulty on Lance’s dunk falls somewhere between astronauts landing on the moon and the invention of the microwave oven.
