The rv/rv Vanderbilt women’s basketball team (14-5, 2-4 SEC) plays host to No. 17/15 Georgia on Thursday, January 26. Tipoff is set for 8:00 p.m. at Memorial Gym and the game can be seen on CSS.
Scouting The Commodores
Vanderbilt will look to snap its first three-game losing streak since 2006 on Thursday, hosting No. 17 Georgia. The Commodores are coming off a 65-60 overtime loss to South Carolina that saw Vanderbilt rally from nine points down in the second half to force the extra period. Vanderbilt is led by sophomore guard Christina Foggie, who is posting 17.7 ppg, second in the SEC. A trio of other players are averaging double-figures for Melanie Balcomb’s squad. Jasmine Lister is posting 12.2 points per game, while adding a team-high 5.2 assists per game. Center Stephanie Holzer is recording 10.7 points per contest, while adding 6.6 rebounds per game. Junior forward Tiffany Clarke is putting up 10.6 points and a team-leading 7.1 rebounds per game. Vanderbilt continues to be one of the best shooting teams in the SEC and the country. The Commodores field goal percentage of 46.5% leads the league and is ninth in the nation. Their mark of 40.0% also leads the conference and is second in the nation.
Scouting The Lady Bulldogs
Georgia visits West End coming off a 61-47 win over Ole Miss in Oxford, Miss. Anne Marie Armstrong led the way with 15 points, while Meredith Mitchell grabbed 14 rebounds. Khaalidah Miller has led the Lady Bulldogs in scoring this season at 13.3 ppg, with Jasmine Hassell right behind her at 13.2 ppg. Armstrong is third on the team with 11.7 per contest, while also leading the team in rebounds at 6.2 per game. Jasmine James has registered a team-high 58 assists, but has missed the last two games with an injury. Head Coach Andy Landers’ squad is 16-4, with all four losses coming to ranked opponents (Georgetown, Gonzaga, Tennessee and Kentucky).
Vanderbilt vs. Georgia – The SeriesThis will be the 55th meeting between Vanderbilt and Georgia, with the Lady Bulldogs holding a 30-24 edge in the series. The teams first met in the 1978-79 season, with each team wining a home contest that year. They did not meet the next year, but played again in Athens in 1980-81 and have met at least once a season every year since. Georgia won 19 of the first 22 contests in the series, but since the 1992-93 season, Vanderbilt has won 21 of 32 contests. The Commodores have won the last four meetings, including a 69-59 win in Athens last year. Jasmine Lister scored 22 points in that contest, while Hanna Tuomi added 19 points and 13 rebounds.

The Commodores cap a three-game home stand on Sunday, January 29, when they play host to LSU. Tipoff at Memorial Gym is set for 2:00 p.m.
