The Commodores moved up the ITA Rankings from the No. 37 team to No. 36 in the latest poll.
Vanderbilt won their season opener against MTSU, with the young team defeating the Blue Raiders 6-1. Three of the team’s six freshmen got their first taste of a collegiate singles match win, as Anton Kovrigin, Jeff Offerdahl, and Gonzales Austin won.
Charlie Jones, who was ranked in the January 3rd release at No. 87, and sophomore Blake Bazarnik each won their matches in straight sets as well against MTSU.
The team will face three ranked teams this weekend when they travel to Malibu, California to play No. 12 Pepperdine, No. 49 BYU, and No. 52 Cal Poly in the ITA Kick-Off.
