The No. 25/22 Vanderbilt women’s basketball team (14-3, 2-2 SEC) travels to Fayetteville, Ark., to take on Arkansas (12-5, 1-4 SEC) on Thursday, January 18. Tipoff at Bud Walton Arena is set for 7:00 p.m. and the game can be heard on WNSR 560 AM in Nashville as well as worldwide on VUCommodores.com.

Scouting The Commodores
Vanderbilt will look to rebound from an 87-64 loss at No. 6/7 Tennessee when they return to the road to face Arkansas. The Commodores are led by sophomore guard Christina Foggie, who is averaging 17.9 ppg and scored 27 points in each of the last two games. Foggie also leads the nation in three point field goal percentage at 50.0% (52-104). She is second in the conference in scoring in league games at 18.5 ppg. Three others join Foggie in averaging double-figures – Jasmine Lister (12.4 ppg), Stephanie Holzer (11.4 ppg) and Tiffany Clarke (10.5 ppg). Clarke leads the team in rebounds with 7.2 per contest, while Lister leads the squad in assists with 5.6 per game. As a team, the Commodores are leading the nation in three-point field goal percentage at 43.2% and are sixth in the country in overall field goal percentage at 48.05%.

Scouting The Razorbacks
Arkansas will host Vanderbilt coming off their first SEC win, a 59-39 home victory over Auburn. The Razorbacks are led by C’eira Ricketts, who is posting 11.0 ppg (20th in the conference) and 12.6 pgg in SEC action (12th in the league). Ricketts also contributes a team-high 4.1 assists per game. Sarah Watkins adds 10.3 ppg. The top rebounder for Arkansas is Ashley Daniels at 5.7 boards per contest. Arkansas lost its opener to Minnesota before winning its next 11-straight games. The Razorbacks then lost their first four SEC games to Georgia, Kentucky, Tennessee and Ole Miss before defeating Auburn. Watkins and Daniels each scored 12 points in the win over Auburn, while Lindsay Harris added 11 points. Tom Collen is in his fifth season as head coach at Arkansas.

Vanderbilt vs. Arkansas – The Series
Melanie Balcomb has posted a 12-1 record against Arkansas. Razorback head coach Tom Collen is 0-5 against Vanderbilt. Last season, Vanderbilt took a 65-54 win at Memorial Gym. Four Commodores scored in double-figures, including Stephanie Holzer (16 points) and Christina Foggie (10 points).

On Deck
The Commodores return home on Sunday, January 22, when they host South Carolina. Vanderbilt will be looking to avenge a 65-55 loss to the Gamecocks in the SEC opener. The game will be Vanderbilt’s annual Jam the Gym promotion, with all tickets costing $1. It is also Vanderbilt’s only home game during the SEC-wide We Back Pat Week, dedicated to raising awareness of Alzheimer’s through the Pat Summitt Foundation following the diagnosis of Tennessee Head Coach Pat Summitt with early onset dementia, Alzheimer’s type. The game tips at 12:30 p.m. CT and can be seen nationally on ESPNU.
