No. 25/22 Vanderbilt women’s basketball will play host to Denver on Friday, December 2. Tipoff at Memorial Gym is set for 7:00 p.m. The game can be heard in Nashville on WNSR 560 AM and seen around the world as part of Vanderbilt All-Access on VUCommodores.com

Scouting the Commodores
Vanderbilt is 7-0 for the fourth time under Head Coach Melanie Balcomb, coming off an 83-51 win at Austin Peay in its first road game of the season. Christina Foggie has taken over as team’s leading scorer after notching back-to-back 20-point games, including a career-high 25 points at Austin Peay. She is averaging 14.7 points on the season. Classmate and fellow guard Jasmine Lister is right behind her with 13.3 points per game, while adding 6.7 assists per contest. Also in double figures are center Stephanie Holzer (12.7 ppg) and forward Tiffany Clarke (12.3 ppg). Clarke is also the team’s leading rebounder with 8.0 per contest, including 10 boards against the Lady Govs. Major contributors for the Commodores also include junior Elan Brown (7.0 rpg) a pair of freshman guards – Kady Scrhann (7.1 ppg) and Maggie Morrison (4.7 apg).

Scouting the Pioneers
Denver travels to Nashville coming off a 66-51 win over Northern Colorado. Kaetlyn Murdoch leads DU with 18.3 points per game, while adding 6.3 rebounds per contest. Quincey Noonan is also in double-figures, posting 12.0 points per contest. Maiya Michel leads the Pioneers on the boards, grabbing 7.3 per game. Emiko Smith runs the point and is averaging 5.7 assists per game. Fourth-year Head Coach Erik Johnson’s squad is 2-1 on the road this year, with wins at Air Force and Northern Colorado and a loss at UTEP.

Vanderbilt vs. Denver – The Series
This is just the second meeting between Vanderbilt and Denver. The teams met at DU’s Magness Arena last year, with the Pioneers taking a 70-65 win. Jasmine Lister scored 14 points for Vanderbilt in the contest, while the Commodores were led by 19 points from Jence Rhoads and 17 points from Hannah Tuomi. Denver’s top returner from that contest is Kaetlyn Murdoch, who had 16 points and six rebounds. Brianna Culberson had a game-high 22 points and seven rebounds for the Pioneers.

Commodores vs. Sun Belt
Vanderbilt is 32-22 all-time against members of the Sun Belt. The majority of those contests have come against Western Kentucky (VU leads series 20-12) and Middle Tennessee State (MTSU leads series 7-8). The Commodores have not faced any other member of the league more than three times. In addition to being 0-1 against Denver, Vanderbilt is 1-0 against Florida International, 2-1 against South Alabama and 2-0 versus Troy. The Commodores have never faced Arkansas State, Arkansas-Little Rock, Louisiana-Lafayette, Louisiana-Monroe or North Texas.

Vanderbilt will play for the third time in six days on Sunday, December 4, when it hosts High Point. Tipoff versus the Panthers is set for 2:00 p.m.
