The Vanderbilt women’s basketball team (5-0) will host No. 13/14 Oklahoma (3-0) in the championship game of the annual Vanderbilt Thanksgiving Tournament.

Day two of the tournament will begin with the consolation game between Liberty and Lipscomb at 2:00 p.m. The championship meeting between the Commodores and Sooners will tip at 4:00 p.m.

Attendance to the tournament is free of charge. Prizes will be given away at each media timeout of the championship game and halftime of both games will feature entertainment from the dunk team of the NBA’s Memphis Grizzlies.

Scouting the Commodores
Vanderbilt enters the championship game of its annual Thanksgiving Tournament with 5-0 record, having defeated Lipscomb, 81-39, in the opening game of the tournament. The Commodores used solid defense and an impressive post presence to dominate the Lady Bisons. Vanderbilt did not give up a point until the 11:46 mark of the first half, opening the game on a 17-0 run. Junior forward Tiffany Clarke now leads the team in scoring, posting 13.8 points per game while adding 8.0 rebounds per game. Stephanie Holzer (13.2 ppg), Jasmine Lister (12.6 ppg) and Christina Foggie (11.4 ppg) are also averaging double-digits for the Commodores. Elan Brown continues to lead the squad in rebounding with 8.6 per game, while Lister is now averaging 6.0 assists per contest. The Lipscomb win improved Vanderbilt to 25-0 all-time in the Thanksgiving Tournament.

Scouting The Sooners
No. 13/14 Oklahoma enters the championship game of the Thanksgiving Tournament with a 3-0 record under 16th-year head coach Sherri Coale. OU won the second semifinal over Liberty, 76-45. Already this season, the Sooners defeated Sacramento State, 117-55, in the season-opener before winning on the road at New Mexico, 58-56. Aaryn Ellenberg leads the team in scoring, averaging 21.3 points, including 22 versus the Flames. Morgan Hook matched Ellenberg’s 22 points against Liberty and is now averaging 14.3 points per contest. Sharane Campbell (11.0 ppg) and Whitney Hand (10.7 ppg) are also in double-figures for the Sooners. Hand also leads OU in rebounding, pulling down 7.7 per game after grabbing seven against Liberty. Hook leads the team in assists with 13 on the season, while Hand adds 12 and Ellenberg has 10. Oklahoma was picked to finish fourth in the Big 12 and has been to the Sweet 16 each the last three seasons.

Vanderbilt vs. Oklahoma – The Series
The match-up with Oklahoma is just the second meeting between two of women’s basketball’s most successful programs. In the only meeting, the Commodores paid a visit to Norman, Okla., and fell to the Sooners, 86-67, in the second round of the 1986 NCAA Tournament.

Commodores vs. The Big 12
Vanderbilt has posted an all-time record of 14-10 against the 10 members of the Big 12 Conference. Five of the 10 defeats have come to Texas Tech, against whom Vanderbilt is 0-5. The `Dores are 4-1 against Texas, 3-1 versus Kansas, 2-0 against Kansas State, 2-1 versus Iowa State, 1-1 against Oklahoma State and 0-1 against Oklahoma. The Commodores are 2-0 against Texas A&M, who will be joining the SEC in 2012-13. Vanderbilt has never faced Missouri, who will also become a member of the SEC next season, or Baylor.
