The Commodore men’s basketball team caps a tripleheader of action at Memorial Gym on Friday evening when they host Monmouth. Tip time is set for 9 p.m. CT, and the action can be heard live on the Vanderbilt Radio Network from IMG College and on vucommodores.com.
Vanderbilt’s women’s team plays earlier in the day at 2 p.m. against Lipscomb, and Oklahoma’s women’s team takes on Liberty immediately following the Commodores’ game with the Bisons.
The Commodores are now 4-1 on the season after defeating Oregon State, 64-62, to capture the TicketCity Legends Classic in East Ruthorford, N.J. on Monday night. It was Vanderbilt’s third preseason tournament title in five years – the Commodores also won the 2007 South Padre Island Invitational and the 2008 Cancun Challenge.
John Jenkins was named MVP of the TicketCity Legends Classic after averaging 21.0 points per game in the two games at the IZOD Center. Jeffery Taylor also made the all-tournament team. Jenkins leads the SEC in scoring at 20.8 points per game, and has now scored in double figures in 37 straight games, dating back to Vanderbilt’s loss to Mississippi State in the 2010 SEC Tournament.

More On The Monmouth series
- Friday’s meeting will be the second in the series between the two schools. Monmouth won the first meeting at the Hawaii Pacific Thanksgiving Invitational in 2001.
- Monmouth head coach King Rice is in his first season with the Hawks. Rice was an assistant with Coach Stallings at Vanderbilt from 2006-11 and at Illinois State from 1993-98.
- Sam Ferry, who was a manager for four years with the Commodores and the video coordinator in 2010-11, is in his first year on Rice’s staff as the Director of Operations.

3-Point Streak Continues in 26th Season; VU One Of Three Teams To Hit A Trey In Every Game Since 1986-87 Season
Vanderbilt has made a 3-pointer in 801 consecutive games, a streak which began at the inception of the 3-point line in 1986-87. The Commodores rank second only to UNLV (807) for the longest streak in Division I basketball. Vanderbilt, UNLV and Princeton (677) are the only three schools in college basketball to have made at least one 3-pointer in every game played since the 3-point line was implemented.
