Scouting the Commodores
Vanderbilt has relied on strong guard play to pick up a pair of wins in its first two games. Sophomore guards Jasmine Lister and Christina Foggie lead the way with 18.5 and 13.5 points per game, respectively. Lister is adding 7.0 assist per game, which is first in the SEC among those who have played more than one contest. Right behind the guards are a pair of frontcourt players, also averaging double-figures. Junior Tiffany Clarke and redshirt sophomore Stephanie Holzer, both of whom were Preseason All-SEC selections, are third and fourth on the team in scoring and tied for second in rebounding. Clarke is posting 12.0 ppg, while Holzer is averaging 11.0 ppg. Both are grabbing 7.0 rebounds per game. Junior Elan Brown leads the team in rebounding, having grabbed nine boards in each contest on the season. The Commodores have been phenomenal distributing the basketball, as they are averaging and SEC-best 23.5 assists as a team.
