Scouting the Leathernecks
Western Illinois comes to Nashville with a 1-0 record under first-year Head Coach JD Gravina. The Leathernecks scored a victory over Hannibal-LaGrange in their season-opener, 87-65. WIU was led by the trio of Sadie Webb (19 points, nine rebounds), Michele Salvatori (16 points) and Valencia Kelly (15 points). Western Illinois took advantage of 25 Trojan turnovers to score 36 points off those miscues. Webb is expected to be the top contributor for Gravina’s squad this year, as she was named the Summit League Newcomer of the Year a season ago, averaging 12 points per game.
