NASHVILLE – Vanderbilt continued its preparations for No. 8 Arkansas Wednesday evening at the John Rich Practice Facility on campus. Following practice, Head Coach James Franklin updated media members on injuries and other topics concerning the matchup with the Razorbacks.
“I thought it was good,” Franklin said of the session. “We’re getting to that point of the season when academics are building up, the bumps and the bruises are building up, so I think we’re practicing smart. We’re cutting back where we can cut back but we’re still flying around and getting what we need to get done. We’ve got to work together — the players and the coaches — and we’ve got to be smart. It’s all been magnified here because of our depth issues.”
Franklin also addressed the depth situation at linebacker and the availability of Chase Garnham for Saturday’s game. “We’re still hopeful. (Garnham) was limited today, but we’re still hopeful that he’s going to be able to go on Saturday,” Franklin noted. “(Karl) Butler has been doing a nice job. He did a nice job in the game (against Army) as well. That gives us a little bit more flexibility but we have some challenges there.”
