NASHVILLE, Tenn. – Lauren Mira, Jackie Wu, and Marie Casares head to the Ohio Valley Regionals this weekend to compete in the Memphis-based tournament.

Wu and Mira are coming off a week of play in California at the ITA/Riviera Women’s All-American Championships, where they each won their pre-qualifying rounds before dropping their first qualifying singles matches. Mira won her singles qualifying back draw match.

“Wu and Mira had really good, solid results out at All-American, so this is a chance to give them another opportunity as a doubles team together, and also individually,” said assistant coach Aleke Tsoubanos. “They’ve worked really hard this fall so far, and they worked really hard last week in California, which was a really difficult tournament.”

Casares is fresh off a win at her first college tournament, when she took the Seminole Invitational in Tallahassee by storm, winning every set. The freshman has played in three junior slam events, including Wimbledon and the French and US Opens.

“It’s a good freshman opportunity for Marie. She had some good results this past weekend,” said Tsoubanos. “She’ll get a really good idea of what high-level competition is like this week.”

Winners of the Regionals get an automatic bid to go on to the USTA/ITA National Indoor Intercollegiate Championships, held in New York this year.
