Vanderbilt women’s tennis wins in dual play

The Vanderbilt women’s tennis team won two of three duals play flights in the first day of play at the Furman Classic in Greenville, S.C. to open their fall season.

Senior Jackie Wu and sophomore Lauren Mira went on to defeat their opponents, Florida State, Tennessee, and Clemson, 8-3, 8-3, 8-4 to win be named flight champions.

In the second flight, senior Chelsea Preeg and freshman Ashleigh Antal paired up to win their matches 8-3, 8-6 and 8-2 over North Carolina, South Carolina, and Tennessee.

Nelly Radeva and Megan Gornet lost their first match against North Carolina 8-4, but won their second match 9-8(6) over Furman. They dropped their final match 8-2 against Tennessee.

Play continues at the 25th Furman Classic with two rounds of singles matches, starting tomorrow morning at 9:00 a.m. ET.
