Texas Tech claimed six out of eight second-round matches Saturday afternoon at Pebble Beach, and the Red Raiders hold an 11-5 lead after 36 holes of the inaugural Carmel Cup. However, Sunday’s final 18 holes will give golfers the opportunity to win two points per match – each player will compare their score against two of their opponents in the foursome, instead of one in the first two rounds.
Vanderbilt’s two wins came from Trey DelGreco, who tied Texas Tech’s Clement Sordet with the low round at Pebble Beach with a 70, and Will Snipes posted a 74 and defeated the Red Raiders’ Logan McCracken, who shot a 76.

Scoring For Sunday
Teams will continue the medal-match play format, but each player will compare their score with the other two opponents in their group. For example, Charlie Grace will compare his score against both Drew Dorsey and Chandler Rusk. If he beats both, he wins two, and if he loses, the team loses two points. Ties with another golfer will count as a half.
Coaches Also Played Today
The Texas Tech coaches outlasted Tom Shaw and Dusty Smith in a match between the coaches this afternoon at Pebble – although Shaw shot a one-over 73 and Smith posted the lowest round of the day among any golfers with a 69.
Pebble Beach

Yes, Pebble Beach has been mentioned as the most beautiful golf course in the world by many who play and cover the game of golf. And, after seeing it today first hand, I think I have to agree. The views of this place are ridiculous – from the cliffs to the breaking waves to the sail boats to the wildlife – it really has it all.
Tried to get some photos of the course, especially the back nine. Check out the photo gallery below.

Video
Here’s a video snippet of what we all saw today…as you can see, it’s pretty sick stuff.
For you Barca!
Okay Mr. Barca, it looks like you had a good time watching the Commodores’ 45-14 win over Elon in the James Franklin-era debut, and I wish I could have seen it with you.
But, I had a great time watching this little play date with a few pups along the Pacific…thought about your pooch, Jelly Bean.
Here’s the Video. By the way, it was shot from the 10th green. Not kidding.

About Spyglass Hill
Spyglass Hill is a couple of miles from Pebble Beach, and has more inland holes than Pebble Beach and Monterey Peninsula, but is still a quality golf course.
However, the five or six holes on the coast are majestic. Elevated tee boxes. Crashing waves and sea lions. And very quality golf holes.
Caddies On Hand
Both the Commodores and Red Raiders each have caddies for their rounds today, with the caddies working with Texas Tech wearing players’ names on their back and red or black hats, and the Vanderbilt caddies doing the same, except they were wearing black lids.
It was a very nice touch.
