Although senior Adam Hofmann shot a one-over par 71 on Tuesday at Erin Hills, he saw his U.S. Amateur come to an end on Tuesday after finishing two rounds of stroke play at seven-over par (76-71=147). Incoming freshman Hunter Stewart’s second round was suspended because of darkness after 11 holes and is at one-over par for the tournament, one stroke back of the cutline of even par.
Stewart will continue his round at Erin Hills on Wednesday morning at 7:30 a.m. Central time. Competitors had to sit through a three-hour weather delay earlier in the day, which kept a number of participants from finishing their round.
Hofmann posted a solid 71 on Tuesday with two birdies, 12 pars, and three bogeys at Erin Hills. Hofmann shot a 76 on Monday at the Blue Mound Country Club, the other course used for stroke play at the tournament.
Stewart is one-over par through 11 holes at Erin Hills after shooting an even-par 70 at Blue Mound on Monday. Stewart birdied the sixth hole and bogeyed number two and four.
