tri_bullett_9px.jpg Senior cornerback Casey Hayward has developed into one of the best defensive players in the SEC. “I know what to expect from him,” teammate Chris Marve said of Hayward. “I know all the time that he’s going to lock his man down; he’s going to make a big play every game. If I know Casey’s on a certain side of me, I know I don’t have to worry about that side.”

tri_bullett_9px.jpg Jeff Lockridge of The Tennessean reports that Vanderbilt has been asked by the SEC to alter its 2012 schedule to open against South Carolina instead of Presbyterian. The matchup with the Gamecocks would likely be a Thursday night home game on ESPN.

You walk into (the center) of the locker room and the first thing you see is four TVs hanging from the ceiling and the anchor of gold on the far side of the wall,” said offensive lineman Wesley Johnson.

tri_bullett_9px.jpg After 10 years at the helm of the Commodore soccer program, head coach Ronnie Woodard has decided to retire. “Even though I know I will miss coaching, I think it is best if I focus my energies on my family for now,” Woodard said. “I have enjoyed my years here and wish the program nothing but the best.” David Williams appointed current assistant Derek Greene as interim head coach.

tri_bullett_9px.jpg Jay Cutler expects the Chicago Bears’ offense to perform at an even higher level in 2011. Head coach Lovie Smith notes that Cutler was the first guy at camp and showed up in the best shape of his life.
