VU Soccer on ESPNU, CSS this fall

July 21, 2011

At least two Vanderbilt soccer games will be televised this fall, the Southeastern Conference announced this week.

Vanderbilt’s Oct. 2 contest at South Carolina will be shown nationally on ESPNU. Game time has been moved back one hour to 2 p.m. CT for the network’s first SEC soccer broadcast of the 2011 season. ESPNU will also televise the SEC Championship game on Sunday, Nov. 6, from Orange Beach, Ala.

On Oct. 16, Vanderbilt will play host to in-state rival Tennessee on CSS. That game has been moved up one hour to a 1 p.m. start time.

“We’re happy to have some of our games on TV again this fall,” VU Head Coach Ronnie Woodard said. “Our sport has received a lot of attention this summer with the U.S. run to the Women’s World Cup final, and it’s my hope that that momentum can carry into the college season in the form of bigger audiences watching us in person and on TV.”

A total of 14 SEC games will be featured on ESPNU, CSS and Fox Sports South this fall.

The 2011 regular season begins in exactly one month for the Commodores, as Furman visits the VU Soccer Complex on Sunday, Aug. 21, for a 1 p.m. matchup. Vanderbilt’s 2011 schedule features 12 home games, including six SEC games in Nashville during the month of October.
