July 20, 2011

Rising senior Trey DelGreco and Ryan Haselden, who graduated in May, were named Cleveland Golf/Srixon All-America Scholars on Wednesday by the Golf Coaches Association of America (GCAA), the men’s collegiate golf coaches governing body. DelGreco and Haselden were two of 178 Division I golfers named to the team.

According to the GCAA, “To be eligible for Cleveland Golf/Srixon All-America Scholar status an individual must be a junior or senior academically, compete in at least two full years at the collegiate level, participate in 70-percent of his team’s competitive rounds or compete in the NCAA Championships, have a stroke-average under 76.0 in Division I, 78.0 in Division II and NAIA and 79.0 in Division III, and maintain a minimum cumulative grade-point average of 3.2 in Division I, II and III and 3.5 in NAIA. A recipient must also be of high moral character and be in good standing at his college or university.”

Haselden graduated with a degree in Economics, was a four-year member of the SEC Academic Honor Roll, and was named the 2011 SEC Men’s Golf Co-Scholar Athlete of the Year in his senior season. Meanwhile DelGreco, who was named to the 2011 Spring Academic Honor Roll, is on track to graduate with a degree in Psychology in the spring of 2012.

“Ryan and Trey represent the true greatness of Vanderbilt student-athletes: achieving excellence in their sport and in the classroom,” said Vanderbilt head coach Tom Shaw. “We are all very proud of the 100% effort that these two golfers put forth on a daily basis. This is a difficult award to achieve, but Ryan and Trey committed themselves to the highest standards possible and they are now rewarded for their efforts.”
