Nashville, Tenn. – Baseball America released its Freshman All-American team today with Vanderbilt freshman Tony Kemp on the first team.

Kemp becomes the eighth Commodores freshman to make the Baseball America freshman squad with Anthony Gomez being the last to earn the honor last season. Kemp hit .329 with 58 runs scored, 34 RBI and a team-best seven triples (one shy of the school single season record). The latest honor comes on the heels of a decorated freshman campaign that saw Kemp earn Southeastern Conference Freshman of the Year, first team All-SEC, SEC All-Freshman team and College World Series All-Tournament team. Along with his Freshman All-American award from Louisville Slugger/Collegiate Baseball he becomes just the fifth Vanderbilt freshman to earn multiple Freshman All-American honors joining Anthony Gomez (2010), Mike Minor (2007), Pedro Alvarez (2006) and Greg Thomas (1991).

Five SEC players were placed on the two-team list with Florida’s Karsten Whitson, Arkansas’ Dominic Ficociello and LSU’s Kurt McCune and JaCoby Jones joining Kemp.
