Nashville, Tenn. – Vanderbilt freshmen Tony Kemp and Conrad Gregor have been named to Louisville Slugger’s Freshmen All-American team.
The tandem had an immediate impact on the Commodores’ offense in their first collegiate campaign, both earning All-SEC honors. Kemp was tabbed the Southeastern Conference Freshman of the Year by the league’s coaches as well as a first team All-SEC performer. Gregor was named a second team All-SEC player.
Kemp enters this weekend’s Super Regional against Oregon State hitting .323 with 54 runs scored and a team-best five triples. Gregor is hitting .344 with three home runs and 30 RBI. Kemp and Gregor are the 20th and 21st Commodores to garner Freshmen All-American honors, joining current teammates Sonny Gray (2009), Riley Reynolds (2009), Aaron Westlake (2009) and Anthony Gomez (2010).
The Commodores host the school’s first-ever Super Regional when Oregon State visits Hawkins Field on Friday night at 7 p.m. on ESPNU.
