EULESS, TX — Brittni Hamilton dominated the field at the USBC’s Intercollegiate Singles Championship, easily brushing past challengers to add yet another major title to her ever-growing list of accomplishments.

The Vanderbilt senior-to-be defeated Central Florida’s Kara Bunting in the championship game, three games to none in the best of five match play format. She was never seriously challenged after seizing an amazing 300-pin advantage over the field in Monday’s qualifying.

Hamilton, a three-time NCAA All-American, is the reigning female Amateur of the Year and there was little doubt at the Euless Lanes who would prevail at this event that attracts elite college bowlers from all levels and divisions.

“I would rank this championship right up there with my other ones,” the modest Hamilton said afterward. “What made this special for me was that I was directly representing my school and team.”

Hamilton was somewhat surprised by her complete domination.

“I was playing a different part of the lane both days,” she noted, “and nobody else seemed to try it and when it looked like they would, they couldn’t make it work for them. I don’t know how I did it but I pretty much had the lane to myself. It was just a matter of getting comfortable. In the semis I had two off games until I could figure out the lanes and settle in.”

Last summer the Webster, N.Y. product won the USBC’s Junior Gold title and the Silver Medal at the World Junior Games in Sweden.

Hamilton said this will essentially end her competitive bowling for the summer as she returns to Nashville for an internship at the Adventure Science Center.
