If there is one thing that baseball fans love – aside from watching the No. 4-ranked Vanderbilt baseball team take on SEC opponents week-in and week-out at Hawkins field on a sunny day – it is free food. And fans do not just enjoy any sort of free food; they especially enjoy free tacos from Taco Bell. Good news for them because every time the Commodores score eight runs or more at home, fans can redeem their ticket stub at any participating Taco Bell in the Nashville area and receive a free crunchy beef taco.
Vanderbilt athletics has teamed up with the fast food chain for years to create a promotion that supporters can feast upon.
“I love the free Taco Bell give away,” said John Richardson, a longtime Vanderbilt fan. “Who wouldn’t want to watch the baseball team score that many runs and receive a free taco on top of it?”
The fans have been able to reap the benefits of Vanderbilt’s potent offense with the team reaching the feat 17 times so far this season, including seven-straight games. More impressive is the fact that the team has reached the magic taco-number in 12 of its last 13 games at the Hawk.
With three home games remaining against Florida, the crowd should look up after each runner crosses the plate because the LED board will light up a letter for each run until it spells “TACOBELL.”
All fans should remember to Think Outside the Bun.
