Vanderbilt Bowling Coach John Williamson has announced the signing of two more high school bowling stars to the national letter of intent, pushing his incoming freshman class to a total of five.

Williamson said that Nicole Mosesso of Centerville, Ohio High School and Rebeca Reguero of Glendale, Az., have joined three others who signed national letters last fall.

“Nicole and Rebeca are terrific additions to our program,” said Coach John Williamson. “We believe both have very bright futures, both as bowlers and as college students. When we combine Nicole and Rebeca with our fall signees, we believe our incoming freshman class is one of the nation’s best.”

Mosesso was named the recipient of the coveted USBC Alberta E. Crowe Scholarship last November, symbolic of the nation’s top high school bowler. She has been second and third in the Junior Masters and participated in Junior Gold, Teen Masters and the USBC National Team Score.

Her lengthy resume includes Bowler of the Year in the Greater Western Ohio Conference and she established her high school’s record season average at 218.7. She was a dominant bowler for her prep team each of her four years, helping her team win the Ohio State championship as a freshman. As a sophomore she successfully converted the rare 7-10 split in match play. Mosesso was also twice named a “Scholar Athlete” at Centerville High.

Reguero and fellow incoming freshman Natalie Goodman become the team’s first left-handers since Mandy Keily in 2007. The North Canyon High product also has a long history of accomplishment, earning Arizona’s Lily May Hester Star of Tomorrow while winning the state’s USBC Scratch Tournament and the Tournament of Champions women’s scratch event.

Rebeca, a National Honor Society member, won three state prep championships and was a four-time regional titleist. She was the 2010-11 Metro Phoenix USBC Youth King/Queen champion. She has competed on the national stage at the Teen Masters and USBC Junior Gold.

Mossesso and Reguero join three others to form an incoming freshman class of five. That trio includes Nicole Chanin of Sparta, N.J., Liz Saffold of Hoffman Estates, Ill., and Natalie Goodman of O’Fallon, Ill.

Chanin and Goodman are state champions in New Jersey and Illinois while Saffold won the 2010 Illinois State Youth Leaders tournament (Bloomington). The story of their signing is found under the “News” section on the bowling team page of vucommodores.com.

The Commodores graduated just three members of its 2011 NCAA runner-up team with just one of those considered a starter.
