NCAA Regional Selections

Vanderbilt was selected as the eighth seed in the East Regional by the NCAA Women’s Golf Selection Committee, marking the 12th consecutive year the Commodores have been named to an NCAA regional and the 13th time overall. Vanderbilt will play in Daytona Beach, Fla., at LPGA International, May 7-9.

“We’re excited about going to the East regional and even more excited about having the chance to play golf with the academic school year behind us,” said Vanderbilt head coach Greg Allen, who will be making his fourth appearance at an NCAA regional with the Commodores and his 11th overall as a head coach. “We set our schedule up each year against the best competition available to prepare us for the postseason. The East Regional is stacked, but I’m very confident that our young ladies will be up for the challenge.”

The Commodores will be joined in the East Regional by Alabama, Purdue, California, Arizona State, Auburn, Michigan State, North Carolina, Florida, Florida State, Colorado, TCU, Louisville, Ole Miss, Texas Tech, Florida International, Coastal Carolina, Augusta State, Yale, Kentucky, Stetson, UNC Wilmington, Fairleigh Dickenson, and Alabama State.

Eleven SEC teams made the 2011 field – Alabama, Auburn, Florida, Ole Miss, and Kentucky join the Commodores in Daytona Beach, LSU and Arkansas will play in the Central Regional in South Bend, Ind., and Georgia, Tennessee, and South Carolina will participate in the West Regional in Seattle, Wash.

Twenty-four teams will be selected to each of the three regionals, with the top eight teams advancing to the NCAA Championships May 18-21 in College Station, Texas. The top two individuals not associated with the eight teams will advance as individuals to the NCAA Championships.

In 2010, the Commodores placed fifth in the East Regional and went on to place seventh at the NCAA Championships in Wilmington, N.C.
