Vanderbilt senior Ryan Haselden has been named the Co-Scholar-Athlete of the Year by the Southeastern Conference, it was announced Monday by the league office in Birmingham. Haselden shares the award with Florida’s Bank Vongvanij.

The award is the first by a Vanderbilt golfer since the award began in 2004.

Haselden, from Houston, Texas, currently has a 3.65 GPA in Economics with a minor in Corporate Strategy. He has been a member of the dean’s List (3.5 and above) for five out of seven semesters, and has played in every tournament the last two seasons. Haselden was the medalist at the 2009 Seminole Intercollegiate and has a career scoring average of 73.7. He was also named a 2010 GCAA Academic All-Scholar and was a team captain in his senior campaign.

“This award validates the hard work that Ryan has put in to being a top student at a great academic institution and a tremendous golfer in the best athletic conference in the country,” said Vanderbilt head coach Tom Shaw. “Congratulations to Ryan on such a deserving award.”
