Dores to face MSU in SEC Tourn.

April 20, 2011

The Vanderbilt women’s tennis team will face Mississippi State in the first round of the SEC Tennis Championship on Thursday morning at 8 a.m. CT. Hosted by the University of Tennessee, the tournament runs Thursday through Sunday, with the championship match scheduled for 11 a.m. on the 24th.

After closing out the conference scheduled with a 7-4 record, the Commodores earned a five seed and will match up against 12th-seeded Mississippi State, who went winless in the league.

Earlier this season, Vanderbilt posted a 7-0 sweep of the Lady Bulldogs in Nashville. Nelly Radeva posted a straight-set victory on court six to clinch the win for the Commodores.

Since the March 4 match, Vanderbilt has switched up the doubles lineup, looking for the most successful pairings. In the last match of the regular season, the Commodores won all three doubles matches en route to a 5-2 victory over Kentucky.

Should the Commodores advance past Mississippi State, they will face Alabama in the second round on Friday, April 22 at 8 a.m. CT.
