Vanderbilt in national championship game

TAYLOR, Mich. – Vanderbilt rallied to win four consecutive games against Nebraska and earn a berth in the national championship game this afternoon.

The Commodores will play Maryland Eastern Shore today at 2:40 p.m. CT. The Hawks defeated top-seeded Fairleigh Dickinson in the other semifinal match. The match will be broadcast on a tape-delay basis by ESPN tomorrow at 1:30 p.m. CT.

Vanderbilt lost the opening game of its semifinal match, 168-193, but the Commodores came alive in the second game to earn a 203-163 victory and even the match. The third game was another impressive VU performance, as the Dores won 222-157.

Nebraska pushed Vanderbilt in game four, with the Commodores coming out with a narrow 216-212 advantage. The Commodores then came from behind in the fifth game. After the Huskers had started with a string of strikes, the Dores put together seven consecutive strikes culminating in back-to-back bullseyes by anchor Samantha Hesley.
