Quick Slant is an array of brief insights and occasionally opinionated overviews of collegiate athletics in general and the Vanderbilt Commodores in particular.
- Did you get the chance to watch our new, four-camera shoot on Tuesday’s baseball live stream? It was a big success and a huge improvement from the single camera look we previously employed. Our production now has great shots from center field, behind the plate and from third and first base sides. We will not be archiving the games but if you are a long-distance baseball fan or simply can’t get to the park, this upgraded production is well worth your time.
- If the weather forecast appears favorable, don’t wait to the last minute to purchase single game tickets to the Alabama baseball series April 8-9-10. Tickets are $12 and we would expect them to be a hot item with two powerful teams on tap. James Franklin will toss out the first pitch on the Friday game and bowling All-American Brittni Hamilton will have the honor Saturday afternoon.
- The folks in our Sales and Marketing office have been working hard on Black and Gold Game activities. It’s Sunday, April 17 with a kick-off at 6:00 p.m. Fireworks to follow. Admission is FREE for fans with the donation of a children’s book to the Books From Birth program at the Vanderbilt Children’s Hospital
- I’m also told that lots of fans are jumping on the new, $150 National Commodore Club membership that provides surface parking near Vandyville.
- A team of “basketball players” can defeat an opponent that trots out superior “athletes” as we’ve seen during this NCAA Tournament. And in this day of early exits to the NBA, a team that plays seniors can make it very uncomfortable on the program that relies on young talent.
